Inala Forty-spotted Pardalote Platform and Bird Viewing Hides
Inala is a private conservation reserve on South Bruny Island Tasmania.
As a place to stay and to visit, the infrastucture is designed for birders and the reserve is owned and run by birders.
Our thoughtfully crafted bird hides and viewing platforms offer our guests superb opportunities to view and photograph our birds. We have a purpose-built 4m high platform for viewing the Endangered endemic Forty-spotted Pardalote in close proximity. This allows for excellent up-close encounters with this sought after species without any disturbance to their natural behaviour.
We also have a hide and secluded viewing platform located near water in woodland close to the accommodations. Endemics like Strong-billed and Yellow-throated Honeyeater may be seen bathing, as may the stunning Pink Robin and the shy Olive Whistler. Some of our guests have their most memorable birding moments in these hides just a few minutes walk from their accommodations!
Keen photographers may also be interested in our raptor viewing hide and our raptor photography hide. ( seperate booking and costs for photography hide ) This is especially productive in the winter months when a regular array of raptors may be seen. Grey Goshawk (white morph), Brown Goshawk, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Brown Falcon, White-bellied Sea Eagle and Swamp Harrier may all be photographed.
How to I access the Inala Conservation Reserve and use the platform and hides?
1) Book one of our cottages and stay within the reserve. The price of the accommodation includes access to the whole reserve and use of the viewing hides and platfroms. 2) Book an Inala Bruny tour with a specialist birding guide. We offer 3hr tours, half day tours, full day tours and multi-day tours and they all include time within the Inala reserve and use of the platforms and viewing hides into the tour
